Nightmares Alley~Poem By Swan Song

Atom Bomb Exploding Off Beach
~Nightmare’s Alley~

Blinding light,
But not from above,
Comes shouting
Into my ears.

My eyelids peel back
Away from my skull.
My face melts.
My bones quiver.

The earth rocks,
And does a shimmy.
Ears exist no more,
For all are deafened.

The roar of the bomb
Made a tornado’s shriek;
Seem merely a child’s play toy
Spinning in a sandbox.

Eons of fighting
Erupts from the surface
Of the earth’s crust,
Revealing mankind’s history.

Shouts, screams, machines;
All firing off at once,
Do penetrate my brain,
And sear my soul’s peace.

Days of children, and yards,
And puppies, exist no more.
All is ash.  All lies dead.
Killed by greed and power.

Rulers galore, rise tall
Above the ashes,
With machine gun in hand,
And gleam in their eye.

They march. They search.
They thirst for more
Lives to steal away
From childhood dreams.

They rout out and thrust in
Their bayonets, pulling
Forth more human
Puppets on a stick.

They carry their prizes
To prison camps, to re-educate
The human populace,
So they rise no more.

Then “All will be peace”,
They say, as governments
Corrupt, and banks fold
Ever more into enemy’s hands.

You wake; you turn your
TV on.  The antichrist stares
You in the face.  You roll over.
You say “It’s Only A Dream”.

Faded Glory~Poem By Swan Song

Posted by swansongsinging on August 23, 2011

Nuclear Bomb_Man On Bench

~Faded Glory~

Locked-in glory
Does weep through
Your blood-red veins.

But injustice screams
Her song through you,
Scratching out her tune
Through your furrowed brows.

A faded glory marches
Yet in the distance,
Like the fading rays
Of sun’s vanishing edge.

Gentle streams
Do also ripple the
Echo of a better day and
A much better time.

What does the future
Hold, all songs say, as
Multitudes of chords
Rip through silent walls.

The beating hearts of many
Do drum imploringly,
Asking but the wind, why?

Does anyone know?
Why?  Why does our peace
Leave so quickly now?

As though it’s feet were
Ice skates, empowered by
A rocket’s rushing, jet thrust.

Will the great, crying
Question of all humanity
Ever be answered?

Where has our peace gone,
And when will it ever
Return?  Faded glory.

Wars beset our shores
And fell our people.
The wounded pile up behind
The hospital’s thick walls.

Orphans roam the streets.
Faces grow gaunt with hunger.
Winds gale with a
Threatening sound.

While drumbeats endlessly
March on further into the
Heart of the nations, all.

Torn flags wave listlessly
In a wind, barely blowing.
And paint peels off our
Once fine buildings.
Faded glory.

We all face the ruin of
Humanity. The destruction
Of earth. And the loss of
Billions of lives.

Is this what we want?
Is this the final vision of
The last remnants of a once
Prospering society on earth?

Why should we build so
Much, just to watch it
Tumble into a great,
Gaping rubble of waste?

Why spend billions on
Weapons of mass destruction,
When we could be feeding the
Billions who are hungry?

I think we are feeding
Something…  And it’s is a
Hunger… but not for food.

It is a bizarre, raw

Desperation to see our
Own end.  It is coming.

One Sound

One Bright Flash
A Great Wind Blowing
Disappearing People.

Someone
Punched
The
Red
Button.

The Glory Ends.

The Atom’s Power~Poem By Swan Song

Posted by swansongsinging on August 23, 2011

**The Atom’s Power**

Split the atom!
Call a halt!
Stop this nonsense!
Grapple with the earth
No more!

What is wrong with you?
Why do you kill?
And ask for more?
Weapons of mass
Destruction, indeed!!

Great folly follows
In your wake.
Foolishness, deluxe,
Lives in your veins.
Hark! Hear! Awake!

Far-Off Day Of Hope Dreams Again~Poem By Swan Song

Posted by swansongsinging on December 10, 2009

Far-Off Day Of Hope~Dreams Again

Moms Cry
Dads Die
Babies Sleep
Beneath The Feet
Of A New
Trail Of Tears.

Irac
Iran
North Korea
Who’s next?

How Long
Will Our Soul
Spend It’s Days
In War?

Shall Peace
Ever Reign?
Is It A
Promised Gift?

Will We
Ever Sleep?
Will The Bombs
Always Blow?

Drums, Drums, Drums!
Stop!
Bugles, Bugles, Bugles,
Stop!

Play A Harp!
Touch A Violin!
Let A Cello
Speak In Dreams!

Sing A Reverie.
Spark A Song.
Let The Memories
Of A Far-Off
Day Of Hope
Dream Again.
